I’ve started reading the Narnia books to my 6 year old. It’s great fun and thanks for this beautiful essay, which makes it seem even more exciting to share with her!
I'm over here looking through the keyhole of the wardrobe and I've been looking for the key for a long time.
If I knew others would come with me I'd kick the door down. Christopher McCandless kicked it down, and has become an icon who died alone. I hate to quote Hillary Clinton, but "it takes a village. The virtual village is a problem pretending to be a solution. I'm sorry to rant but I just don't know how these virtual conversations get us where we all want to go. I have my virtual village of friends who help me feel a little less crazy and I'd count you as one of them, but.....I've had a phone conversation with one of them, will never likely meet any of them................ If Narnia is possible I'd likely be too poor or too afraid to move there. I'm not sure my digitized human physiology would know what to do with things that are real. The most real I ever feel is out in the woods where I am simultaneously experiencing the transcendence and immanence of whatever made this amazing world.

That sounds wonderful! They are such great books to read aloud and share with others. Enjoy!
Excellent essay! I shared it in my newsletter before meandering over and finding your page here.
Hi Haley, Thank you so much! I really appreciate that. I'm glad you enjoyed the essay.

I agree with you about the most real I ever feel being when surrounded by nature. Absolutely! It just feels RIGHT.
Have you read the Narnia series? If not, it captures much of that feeling of being immersed in a landscape that revives and strengthens.
